Chile: Attorney General Jorge Abbott has requested greater powers in order to investigate tax crimes which are currently the main responsibility of Chile’s tax authority – Servicio de Impuestos Internos (SII). The announcement follows the SII’s recent decision to close some investigations into corporate tax fraud connected to illicit party political contributions, which some critics have suggested is a cover-up.
