El Salvador’s gov’t slashes social spending to address fiscal crisis

Development: On 23 April, Francisco Zelada, the secretary general of one of El Salvador’s teachers’ unions, Sindicato de Maestros y Maestras de Educación con Participación de la Comunidad (Simeduco), warned that the financial crisis affecting schools since 2016 will intensify following the recently announced cuts to the national budget.
