Earlier this month policewomen from Latin American countries met in Ecuador’s capital, Quito, for a two-day conference aimed at combatting human trafficking. A press release by the Ecuadorean interior ministry notes that the meeting, which began on 8 March and was attended by representatives from Ecuador and Peru from the Andean region (as well as Mexico, Chile and the Dominican Republic), was aimed at considering the application and processes of international regulations and national laws in tackling human trafficking.
