Argentina: Drug-related political links exposed

An expansive mapping of drug-traffickers in the northern provinces of Argentina, led by two federal prosecutors from Corrientes, Flavio Ferrini and Carlos Schaefer, and the head of the attorney general’s unit against drug trafficking Procuraduría de Narcocriminalidad (Procunar), Diego Iglesias, has started to deliver results. The mayor of Itatí, located in the north of Corrientes near Paraguay, and his deputy were arrested on 14 March for alleged links to drug traffickers.
