President Danilo Medina commemorated the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of the Dominican Republic’s pre-eminent independence heroes, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, on 9 March. Medina extolled Rosario Sánchez’s “bravery and values”, fighting for a free, sovereign and independent nation.
