Argentina: A statement by the White House released on 16 February notes that the previous day, US President Donald Trump spoke with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri and “emphasised the strong and enduring bilateral ties between the US and Argentina”. The statement goes on to note that “President Trump underscored the leadership role that he sees President Macri playing in the region”, adding that the new US president has invited President Macri to visit Washington DC, in the coming months.
