Argentina: Tightening air surveillance in the north

Argentina has begun the process of expanding its air radar coverage in the north of the country as part of its efforts to stop the smuggling of illegal drugs and goods across its borders. In early February, Argentina’s federal government signed an agreement with the provincial government of Formosa to install a new air radar there. This will help improve air surveillance in Argentina’s border with Paraguay. This is just the first step in reinforcing security in northern Argentina but it could prove to be a very significant one.
