COSTA RICA: New Year’s Eve operation consolidates record drug haul
Costa Rica’s public security ministry announced on 31 December that an operation in the waters off the country’s Pacific coast, in the border region with Panama, had led to the arrest of three foreign nationals trafficking 756 kilograms of cocaine. The find, on the last day of 2016, brought the total amount of cocaine confiscated across the whole year to over 25 tonnes, a record amount.
