ARGENTINA: Triple femicide raises concern over gang-related gender violence

In September a high-profile femicide case in Buenos Aires province sparked widespread concern over violence against women. The suspects arrested in relation to the murders are believed to have ties to organised crime. The governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, has described it as a case of ‘narco-femicide’, while the security minister of the federal government, Patricia Bullrich, has emphasised the need for tougher punitive action against organised crime, rather than focusing on the gender aspect of the crime.
