*The director of Colombia’s national federation of coffee producers (FNC),
Germán Bahamón Jaramillo, has said that the country’s 2024/2025 harvest saw the highest coffee production of the last 33 years, with 14.87m sacks of coffee produced (1 sack = 60kg). This was up by 17% on the previous harvest. Exports were up by 12% year-on-year, with 13.3m sacks exported, while Bahamón said that domestic coffee consumption remained stable at 2.3m sacks. He added that the 2025/2026 coffee harvest is likely to be smaller due to natural fluctuations in the coffee-growing cycle and heavy rains during the first half of this year.
