*Cuba’s national statistics institute (Onei) has released figures showing that 1.26m international tourists visited the country in the first eight months of 2025, a reduction of 21.6% on the 1.61m that visited in the same period of 2024. Most tourists who arrived in the first eight months of the year came from Canada (526,245), down 21.0% year-on-year, followed by Cubans living abroad (161,195), down 20.7%, the US (83,981), down 19.5%, and Russia (80,553), down 39.4%.
