In brief: Argentina’s GDP grows year-on-year, contracts in quarterly terms
*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that the country’s GDP in the second quarter of 2025 contracted by 0.1% on the previous quarter and grew by 6.3% on the same quarter last year. The latest quarterly contraction comes after three consecutive quarters of quarterly growth, and the latest year-on-year increase marks the third consecutive quarter to post yearly growth. Significant year-on-year growth was registered in the categories of financial mediation (+26.7%) and hotels and restaurants (+17.0%). The sectors with the greatest year-on-year contractions were fishing (-42.2%) and electricity, gas, and water (-1.1%).
