*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the inflation figures for August, putting monthly inflation at 1.9% and annual inflation at 33.6%. This latest monthly rate is the same as the figure registered for the previous month, following
two consecutive months of increases in the monthly inflation rate. The annual rate for August is down from 36.6%
in July. Of the 12 categories of products and services measured by Indec, the categories with the highest monthly inflation were transport (+3.6), alcoholic drinks and tobacco (+3.5%), and restaurants and hotels (+3.4%). The clothing and footwear category was the only category to see a decrease in prices, with a monthly deflation rate of 0.3%.
