*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has reported that the unemployment rate of the economically active population stood at 2.8% in July 2025, compared to 2.9% in the same month of the previous year. This equates to 1.7m people, down by 85,000 people year-on-year. The unemployment rate is up from 2.7% in June. In July the economically active population – meaning people aged 15 and over who are employed or actively seeking work – stood at 62.5m, up by 390,000 people as compared to July 2024. The informality rate in July was 56.1%, up from 54.5% in July 2024, with 34.1m people employed in the informal sector.
