*Peru and Indonesia have signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (Cepa) during a visit to Jakarta by a Peruvian government delegation headed by President Dina Boluarte. Peru’s foreign trade and tourism ministry (Mincetur) said that once the agreement comes into force, 56% of the products that Peru exports to Indonesia will not face tariffs, including products such as cacao, blueberries, coffee, avocados, mangos, and zinc. Tariffs on other products will be lifted over the next five, seven, and ten years, at which point 86% of Peruvian exports to Indonesia will be tariff free. According to Mincetur, bilateral trade with Indonesia totalled US$646m in 2024, up 25% on 2023, while Peruvian exports to the country totalled US$191m, up by 210% year-on-year. This increase was primarily due to a rise in agricultural exports – particularly cacao and its derivatives, which accounted for 74% of the total.
