In brief: Inflation ticks up in Chile

*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has published the most recent data for the consumer price index (CPI), showing that monthly inflation for July was 0.9%, bringing the yearly rate to 4.3%. This compares to monthly deflation of 0.4% in June, when the annual rate stood at 4.1%. Out of the 13 categories measured in the CPI, 12 registered monthly price rises, with the INE highlighting rises in the housing and basic services (+1.5%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.9%) categories. The only category to register a monthly price decrease was insurance and financial services (-0.5%).
