CHILE: Mine closed after six fatalities

On 4 August Chile’s mining minister, Aurora Williams, announced that El Teniente, the largest underground copper mine in the world, south-east of Santiago, would be closed for an indefinite period of time while investigations are carried out into the collapse of a tunnel which claimed the lives of six miners last week.
