*Peru’s economy and finance ministry has announced that the country registered a fiscal surplus of 0.7% of GDP in the second quarter of 2025. This was the first surplus after eight consecutive quarters of fiscal deficit, with the previous surplus registered in the second quarter of 2023. It follows a 0.5% fiscal deficit in the first quarter of 2025, and a 1.9% deficit in the same quarter last year. With these latest results, Peru is on course to end 2025 with a fiscal deficit of 2.6%, according to the finance ministry.
