In brief: Mexico continues fuel theft crackdown

*Mexico’s federal attorney general’s office (FGR) has announced that it has seized 19,000 litres of stolen fuel, known as huachicol, in Tototlán municipality, Jalisco state. The fuel was seized during a raid of a building carried out in coordination with the federal defence ministry (Defensa). Authorities seized 19,330 litres of fuel, various storage containers, and two vehicles, among other equipment. The seizure follows that of 933,000 litres of stolen fuel in Veracruz state on 8 July, the seizure of more than 15m litres of stolen fuel in Coahuila state on 7 July, and the dismantling of a major fuel theft network in central Mexico on 29 June.
