Carlos Fávaro have launched the 2025/2026 ‘Plano Safra’ (harvest plan), the annual financing plan for the agricultural sector. This cycle will provide a record R$516.2bn (US$94.2bn) in loans and credit for agribusiness companies. The government highlighted that this latest investment marks an increase from the R$508.6bn of the 2024/2025 Plano Safra and from R$471.2bn for 2023/2024. The day before the launch of the Plano Safra for large-scale food producers, Lula held a separate event with his minster for agrarian development,
Paulo Teixeira, to announce the Plano Safra da Agricultura Familiar, a related funding mechanism for small-scale, local family-run farms, which will receive R$89bn in credit for the 2025/2026 harvest cycle.
