*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released new figures showing that industrial manufacturing increased by 8.5% year-on-year in April, and by 2.2% compared with March. This compares with a monthly fall of 3.9% in March when the year-on-year rate was 5.0%. The steepest monthly increases in manufacturing production in April were in the categories of non-metallic and basic metallic minerals (+6.7%), oil refining, chemicals, and rubber & plastic products (+5.1%), and furniture & other manufacturing industries (+4.1%). Construction activity also increased in April, rising by 25.9% year-on-year and by 5.1% compared with March. This compares with a 15.8% year-on-year rise in March and a 3.6% monthly decline.
