In brief: Remittances to Nicaragua slow

*Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has released new figures showing that remittances to the country totalled US$501.8m in April, down from US$532.2m in March but up from US$449.4m in April 2024. This brings the total for the first four months of the year to US$1.94bn, up from US$1.59bn over the same period in 2024. Of the total registered in April 2025, US$424.2m worth of remittances came from the US, US$33.7m from Costa Rica, and US$27.2m from Spain, among other countries.
