*Panama’s economy ministry (MEF) has reported that Panama’s monthly indicator of economic activity (Imae) was up 7.88% in March 2025 compared with March 2024, citing figures from the national statistics institute (Inec). According to MEF, accumulated growth in the first three months of 2025 was 6.63%. It said that the March growth rate was driven mainly by sectors like transport, trade, banking, industry, agriculture, fishing, and hotels & restaurants, as well as electricity & water supply. In its latest forecast released on 28 April, the United Nations (UN) Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) predicts that Panama will post 3.1% GDP growth in 2025, up from 2.9% in 2024 and unchanging on its previous (January) forecast. This is above the 2.7% average for Central America.
