*Mexico’s Tourism Minister
Josefina Rodríguez Zamora has announced that 31.9m passengers travelled on national and international flights to and from Mexico in the first quarter of 2025. Of this total, 14.8m people travelled on national flights in this period, up 5.2% on the first quarter of 2024, and 16.3m travelled on international flights, up 2% on the same period of 2024.
“This increase not only reflects Mexico’s good performance in terms of economy and tourism, but is also an unmistakable sign of the growth of airport infrastructure in our country,” said Rodríguez. According to the tourism ministry (Sectur), local low-cost airlines VivaAerobus and Volaris accounted for the most passengers on domestic flights in the first quarter (10.8m), while the Mexican airlines that transported the most passengers on international flights were flagship carrier Aeroméxico and Volaris (3.4m).
