*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has published the most recent data for the consumer price index (CPI), indicating that monthly inflation for April was 0.2%, bringing the yearly rate to 4.5%. This is down from monthly inflation of 0.5%
in March when the yearly rate was 4.9% and lower than the median estimate of 4.6% in a Bloomberg survey of economists. Out of the 13 categories measured in the CPI, nine registered monthly price rises, with the INE highlighting rises in the categories of various goods and services (+1.2%) and housing & basic services (+0.2%). The category to register the largest monthly price decrease was clothing & footwear (-2.0%).
