*MercadoLibre, an Argentine e-commerce company headquartered in Uruguay, has announced that it will invest R$34bn (US$5.75bn) in its operations in Brazil in 2025. The company also said it will hire an additional 14,000 people this year, bringing its total number of employees in Brazil up to 50,000. Márcio França, the minister for entrepreneurship and small businesses, who highlighted yesterday that 500,000 small companies in Brazil rely on MercadoLibre’s services. According to MercadoLibre’s 2024 financial results, Brazil was the company’s largest source of revenue, accounting for US$11.41bn of its total net revenue of US$20.78bn.
