In brief: Three new port terminals planned in Peruvian Amazon

*Peru’s investment promotion agency (Proinversión) has signed a collaboration agreement with the transport & communications ministry and the national port authority (APN) to develop three river ports in the Amazonian regions of Ucayali and Loreto. Under the plan, a concession will be awarded to develop a new port terminal for passengers and goods in Pucallpa, the capital of Ucayali, with operating rights for 30 years. In Loreto region, the plan aims to build two new port terminals in the cities of Iquitos and Saramiriza. Proinversión will now carry out technical studies and seek to attract private investment in the projects.
