*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released its latest global indicator of economic activity (IGAE), revealing a slight downturn in the country’s economy. In January, economic activity declined by 0.2% compared to the previous month. Activities in the secondary (manufacturing) sector contracted by 0.4%, while the tertiary (services) sector remained unchanged. Meanwhile, the primary (agriculture) sector saw a monthly increase of 3.1%. On an annual basis, overall the IGAE registered no change in January 2025 compared with January 2024. The IGAE recorded an increase of 14.6% in the primary sector and 1.0% in the tertiary sector in annual terms, while secondary activities declined by 2.8%.
