In brief: Two pipelines attacked in Colombia

*The Colombian hydrocarbon transport company Cenit, a subsidiary of state oil company Ecopetrol, has denounced two attacks on its pipelines in the eastern department of Arauca. Cenit said in a statement that the Bicentenario pipeline was leaking after a “terrorist attack by unknown perpetrators” in the village of Palo de Agua, Fortul municipality, while the Caño Limón Coveñas pipeline remained intact following an attack in Agua Santa, Saravena municipality. Cenit said that these attacks are part of “systematic crimes against hydrocarbon transport infrastructure”. Arauca department is a stronghold of the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN) guerrilla group, which was blamed for a string of attacks on the same pipelines last year.
