*The Argentine subsidiaries of US oil firm Chevron and London-headquartered Shell have joined the Vaca Muerta Oleoducto Sur (VMOS) consortium led by Argentina’s state oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF) which plans to build a 437km pipeline from Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale fields in Neuquén province to a new export terminal in Punta Colorada, Río Negro province. According to a VMOS statement which described the pipeline as “the most important oil transport infrastructure project in recent decades”, Chevron Argentina and Shell Argentina have joined the consortium as shareholders. The statement said that the pipeline is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will initially transport up to 550,000 barrels of oil per day.
