*The Brazilian meat industry association, Associação Brasileira de Proteína Animal (Abpa), has released its figures for poultry exports in February, showing a total of 468,400 tonnes (t) exported. This is up 17.9% compared to the 397,200 t exported in February 2024. The export value for poultry in February this year was US$870.4m, up 23.1% compared to the US$707m registered in the same month last year. In terms of export destinations, China was the top importer of poultry from Brazil last month, registering a total of 49,600 t, up 18.1% year-on-year. Other major export destinations in February include the United Arab Emirates (38,800 t), Saudi Arabia (31,500 t), Japan (27,700 t), South Africa (24,500 t), the Philippines (23,200 t), and Mexico (20,900 t). Of these destinations, exports to South Africa and Mexico saw the highest yearly increases, up 36.1% and 272.3% respectively. Brazil’s southern region remained the country’s top poultry-exporting region in February, with Paraná state exporting 186,000 t (+15.9% year-on-year), Santa Catarina exporting 106,600 t (+15.5%), and Rio Grande do Sul exporting 69,800 t (+19.5%).
