BRAZIL: Violent death rate continues to drop

The national rate of violent deaths – taking into account deaths registered as intentional murders, femicides, robberies resulting in death, and physical injuries resulting in death – has fallen every year since 2021 in Brazil. The federal ministry for justice and public security (MJSP) has updated its latest figures which showed that 2024 was another year in which this trend continued, although the decrease was not uniform throughout the country.
