*Peru’s minister of foreign trade and tourism, Desilú León, has said that exports totalled a record US$74.66bn in 2024, signifying a 15.6% increase compared with the previous year. This was the fourth consecutive year of record exports. Categories which saw increased exports include metals (+36%), fishing (+24%), agriculture (+22%), mining (+16%), and chemicals (+8%). China remained Peru’s largest export destination, receiving 34% of exports, followed by the US (13%), the European Union (11%), India (6%), and Canada (5%). In December 2024, exports totalled US$6.97bn, representing an increase of 11.1% compared with the same month in 2023.
