ECUADOR: Noboa aligns with Trump ahead of elections

Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa appears to be making a concerted effort to get into the good books of his US counterpart Donald Trump ahead of the 9 February first round of general elections. With Noboa well placed to win re-election, he has echoed two of Trump’s early moves by announcing tariffs on Mexico and formally designating the Tren de Aragua organised crime group as a terrorist group.
