In brief: Monthly inflation up in Uruguay

*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released its consumer price index (IPC) for January, showing a monthly inflation rate of 1.10%. This marks an increase from the 0.34% monthly inflation registered in December 2024. The annual inflation rate in January stood at 5.05%, which is down from 5.49% the previous month. The category with the highest monthly inflation rate in January was information and communication (+3.15%), followed by restaurants and accommodation services (+2.43%), insurance and financial services (+2.04%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (+1.25%), transport (+1.24%), and food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.77%).
