*Panama’s ministry of trade and industry has announced that exports in 2024 totalled US$964.3m, representing an increase of 7.4% compared with 2023. Trade and Industry Minister Julio Moltó said that this was the highest annual export figure since 2010. Bananas were Panama’s main export last year, accounting for 16.3% of the total, followed by frozen shrimp (10.4%), raw cane sugar (4.9%), unrefined palm oil (4.8%), and fish oils (4.5%). The US was Panama’s main export destination, receiving 19.1% of exports, followed by the Netherlands (14.5%) and Taiwan (11.5%).
