Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa could seal re-election in the first round on 9 February and get close to securing a majority in the national assembly in concurrent congressional elections. That is according to the findings of an electoral survey by Ipsos ahead of the 30 January cut off for the publication of polls. Another survey, by Comunicaliza, suggested Noboa would still be taken to a second round but, significantly, it too showed him picking up momentum and pulling further clear of second-placed Luisa González of the left-wing opposition Revolución Ciudadana (RC). Both polls were conducted after the presidential debate on 19 January.End of preview - This article contains approximately 867 words.
