COLOMBIA: Finance minister replaced amid budget drama

Political uncertainty and sabre-rattling between President Gustavo Petro and his opponents have thrown Colombia’s public finances into disarray and risk threatening the country’s broader economic stability. The situation for an already debilitated Petro, who lost his governing majority in congress only 15 months into his term, and whose approval rating hovers around 33%, has become increasingly fragile in recent months as encroaching corruption scandals have taken their toll on his economic team and policies.
