*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its figures for the country’s retail sales in November 2024, showing a 0.4% monthly drop but a 4.7% increase compared to November 2023. Accumulated sales in the 12 months until November 2024 were also up 4.6% from the previous 12-month period. Of the eight product categories measured, five saw monthly decreases, with the greatest drops registered in furniture and home appliances (-2.8%) and pharmaceutical, medical, and orthopaedic items & perfumes (-2.2%). In a press release, the Ibge highlighted that the decrease in the furniture and home appliances category came after a relatively strong month of sales in October, when the category saw a 7.8% monthly increase, according to the latest figures.
