COLOMBIA-PARAGUAY: Prison murder upsets criminal investigations
The scene in cell 25 of La Picota prison in southern Bogotá could have come straight out of one of the Netflix episodes on Colombia’s notorious former drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. On 3 January the body of Francisco Luis Correa, one of the coordinators in the high-profile assassination of Paraguayan special prosecutor Marcelo Pecci in May 2022, was found in a pool of blood in his cell, apparently stabbed to death.
