*Peru’s investment promotion agency (Proinversión) has announced that the Spanish water company FCC Aqualia has been awarded a contract to build a water treatment facility in Chincha province, Ica region. FCC Aqualia will invest US$96.5m in the facility, which will treat wastewater from the districts of Chincha Alta, Chincha Baja, Grocio Prado, Pueblo Nuevo, Alto Larán, Sunampe, and Tambo de Mora. Proinversión said that the project will benefit an estimated 345,000 people in these districts by reducing illnesses and environmental damage caused by water pollution, as well as enabling complementary projects to reuse the treated water.
