*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released data on inflation for November, showing a yearly rate of 166%, down from 193% in October. In monthly terms, inflation stood at 2.4% down from 2.7% reported in the previous month. The greatest monthly price rises were in the categories of education (+5.1%), housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuel (+4.5%), and alcoholic drinks and tobacco (+4.0%). The smallest price increases in November were in the home equipment and maintenance (1.5%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks categories (0.9%). During a speech on 11 December to mark his government’s first-year anniversary, Argentina’s President Javier Milei stated, “we are entering a year of low inflation, high economic growth and, as a result, sustained growth in the purchasing power of Argentines”.
