In brief: New survey shows impact of extreme weather in Costa Rica

*A new survey by US-based global architecture, design and planning firm Gensler has found that 87% of Costa Ricans report infrastructure disruptions from severe weather events. According to its Global Action Survey, 65% of Costa Ricans are affected by extreme heat, 40% are affected by drought, and 37% by heavy precipitation. Moreover, 33% of Costa Ricans reported not being prepared for natural disasters or severe weather events, 45% reported being somewhat prepared, 18% moderately prepared, and only 4% are extremely prepared. The survey sampled 927 people in Costa Rica.
