*Colombia will resume electricity exports to Ecuador, which had been suspended at the start of October as both countries grapple with a drought that has caused low water levels at hydroelectric power stations. According to a brief joint statement released on 16 November, “Colombia will provide electrical energy to support Ecuador in the current energy crisis”. Ecuador’s acting energy minister, Inés Manzano, was cited yesterday in the local media as saying that electricity rationing will be loosened from today (18 November), with scheduled power cuts reduced to eight hours per day, down from 12 hours previously.
