*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has published the most recent data for the consumer price index (CPI), indicating that monthly inflation for October was 1%, bringing the yearly rate to 4.7%. This represents an increase from the 0.1% monthly inflation rate in September, when the yearly rate was 4.1%. The monthly rate was also up from August, when it stood at 0.3%, while the annual rate was the same (4.7%). Out of the 13 categories measured in the CPI, only four registered monthly price decreases, with the biggest drops in clothing & footwear (-3.0%) and home equipment & maintenance (-1.5%). The categories to register the largest monthly price increases were housing and basic services, rising by 3.1%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages, increasing by 2.2%.
