In brief: Headline inflation up in Mexico while core rate slows

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the consumer price index for October, showing monthly inflation of 0.55%, up from 0.05% in September and 0.01% in August. Annual inflation in October stood at 4.76%, up from 4.58% in September. Fruit and vegetables registered the highest monthly (+4.29%) and annual (+15.90%) price increases in October. The closely watched core inflation rate, which excludes volatile items, was 0.28% in monthly terms, remaining the same as in the previous month. In annual terms, the core rate was 3.80%, down from 3.91% in September.
