*A Honduran government delegation has met in Washington with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank with the aim of securing US$500m in funding before the end of 2024. The Honduran delegation attending the meetings, which took place from 21-25 October, included Finance Minister Christian Duarte, the central bank president, Rebeca Santos, and the vice president of congress, Hugo Noé Pino. A statement from Honduras’ finance ministry said that the requested funds, which would consist of US$200m from the IMF, US$150m from the World Bank, and US$25.6m from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), as well as around US$130m from other multilateral organisations, would finance the “social and productive investment programme” of President Xiomara Castro.
