*Colombia’s deputy energy minister, Javier Campillo Jiménez, has announced that the Italian energy company Enel will invest approximately €2bn (US$2.1bn) in Colombian renewable energy projects over the next few years. The announcement came after a meeting between President Gustavo Petro and Enel directors, including the company’s CEO Flavio Cattaneo, at the presidential palace. Cattaneo said that Colombia is one of “six key countries” for Enel and said that “we are interested in continuing to invest to contribute to the energy transition and the modernisation of the country’s infrastructure”.
