ARGENTINA: Early signs of a dormant copper industry awakening

For a long time Argentine mining executives looked enviously across the Andean cordillera to their western neighbour. Chile is the world’s leading copper producer and third-largest lithium supplier, making it a major player in the global energy transition. Argentina produces virtually none of the red metal and only a quarter of the white powder used in batteries, despite having the same potential.
