*Mexican airline Aeroméxico has announced that it is negotiating with the umbrella pilots’ union Asociación Sindical de Pilotos Aviadores de México (Aspa) to prevent a strike planned for 1 October. Aeroméxico said that it had reiterated its commitment to “strengthening pilots’ collective contract” and claimed that its pilots receive the best pay and benefits of all Mexican airlines. Aspa has not specified what improvements it is seeking to pilots’ contracts, but said in a 12 September statement that “we are in the negotiating stage with representatives from the company with the aim of delivering mutual benefits”.
